WHAT WE DO

We pay the part a caregiver cannot.

Hammy's Hope funds veterinary treatment for pets, strays and community animals. That is the whole of it — one programme, done properly, rather than several done thinly.

The programme

The clinic discounts. We match it.

An animal arrives at a clinic with something treatable. The diagnosis is clear, the treatment exists, and the person who brought it in cannot pay. That is the moment we are built for.

We work with partner clinics that agree to discount their bill for someone in difficulty. We then contribute up to the value of that discount. Between the two, the cost comes down a long way — though not always to nothing. We would rather say that plainly than let anyone arrive expecting a bill of zero.

Who can apply

Anyone caring for the animal, not only its owner.

Individual caregivers

Pet owners, and people looking after an animal they did not choose but cannot walk away from.

NGOs and organisations

Registered organisations applying on behalf of animals in their care, through an authorised representative.

Community animal caretakers

The people who feed and watch out for the strays on their street, and who notice first when something is wrong.

You must be 18 or over, or applying on behalf of an organisation with authority to do so, and everything you submit must be true and complete. Applying does not guarantee funding — see the Terms.

How it works

Seven steps, and you are told where you stand at each one.

All of it happens on WhatsApp. There is no form to download, no office to visit, and no queue to stand in.

You ask

Message Hammy on WhatsApp. He takes you through an intake — who you are, your animal, what treatment is being sought, and the clinic's quote for it.

We work out the match

We look at the discount your partner clinic is offering and work out what we can put against it.

We tell you both

The determination goes to you and to the clinic, on WhatsApp. You will know what is covered before anything begins.

The clinic accepts

The clinic confirms the request. Nothing starts until it has.

Treatment happens

The clinic treats your animal and issues a final invoice.

You send the invoice

Send us the final invoice and the post-treatment documentation through Hammy.

We pay the clinic

Once the treatment is verified we pay the clinic directly, against the final amount. You and the clinic both get a receipt.

What we will ask you for

Paperwork, kept to what is needed.

We have to be able to show that every rupee went to the treatment it was given for. That means documents — but only the ones that prove it.

  • Your name and contact details
  • The animal's name, type and medical condition
  • A veterinary estimate or treatment plan, and the clinic's name
  • A medical report or diagnosis
  • Proof of financial need — an income statement, or an NGO registration certificate
  • Identification proof — an Aadhaar card, or an NGO certificate
  • Photographs of the animal
  • The final invoice and post-treatment documentation, afterwards

Photographs of documents are fine. Send them to Hammy and he will tell you if anything is missing.

Being straight with you

What we do not do.

Our focus is narrow on purpose. Knowing the edges of it saves everyone time.

We do not pay you — we pay the clinic

Assistance is settled with the clinic directly, against the final invoice. Money never passes through the pet parent's hands, which is what lets us account for every rupee.

We are not an emergency service

If your animal is bleeding heavily, cannot breathe, or has been hit by a vehicle, go to the nearest vet now. Message us on the way, not before. The animal comes first and the paperwork can follow.

We do not run feeding rounds or sterilisation drives

Other organisations do that work, and do it well. We fund treatment costs, and that is where our money and attention go.

Applying does not guarantee funding

Applications are reviewed on the urgency of the condition, the documentation provided, our available funds, and the eligibility criteria in force. We may approve, reject or partially fund a request.

We cannot always cover the whole bill

Our contribution is matched to the clinic's discount. Where a gap remains, it remains — but you will know the number before treatment begins, not after.

And underneath it all

Hammy holds the whole thing together.

Intake, the determination, the documents, the receipt — every step runs through the same WhatsApp number, so nothing is lost between one stage and the next.
